Coffee on the Couch @positive news for you: Episode Fifty- Seven - Mike j Kizman

Exploring the depths of emotion and human connection through the poignant pages of Afternoon Rebecca.

Relative excerpts from the podcast:

Mike J. Kizman - Author: Afternoon Rebecca

Chris:
Welcome to Coffee on the Couch. I'm thrilled to introduce our guest today, the talented author, Mike J. Kizman. That's how you say it, right, Kizman?

Mike J. Kizman:
Yes, sir.

Chris:
Okay. Mike has just published his first book, Afternoon Rebecca, a remarkable exploration of the Christian dating world in modern-day America. This book is more than just a narrative. It's a thoughtful commentary on relationships, faith, and the challenges young adults face today. Hats off to you, Mike, for bringing such a high-quality work into the world.

So grab your cup of coffee and get ready for an inspiring conversation that dives into the heart of love and authenticity. So welcome, Mike.

Mike J. Kizman:
All right. Good to be here. Good to be here.

Chris:
Thank you. It's good to have you. So we got connected, like we were saying before we were recording, we got connected by a mutual contact, Kaylee Keys, her book. And we had corresponded back and forth a few times, and we just happened to get this going. So that’s pretty cool.

Mike J. Kizman:
Yes, it was great to meet you.

So first question, what's the inspiration behind this story? Afternoon Rebecca blends romance with personal growth and community dynamics. Can you share the inspiration behind the story and how you developed the characters of Jeff and Rebecca?

Mike J. Kizman:
Yeah, it's kind of... long twisted story, if you don't mind, I'll try to be as succinct as possible. But back in 1991, I was working, I was a dishwasher at a restaurant here in town that was similar, based similarly to the one we find in Afternoon Rebecca. And I had an idea back then to write a story. I was going to call it Fine Dining. And it was a kind of a similar concept where a couple is out on a date and then some of the stories of some of the workers who work there.

And I tried to write that. And I was very young, like 21. I just wasn't able to do that. So I, you know, put it on the back burner, you know. I always wanted to be a writer.
