Host: Today's guest is someone whom Chris has enjoyed connecting with and getting to know here at Coffee on the Couch, we love to have authors, writers, journalists, and the like on our show. Their stories and their methods of writing are just as creative as they are insightful. We hope you enjoy the show!
Maurine: That's quite a lovely introduction, and I appreciate your kind words.
I might expand on that a little bit. The world of North, I actually live in a little town called North, and it got its name because it's on the North River and it's a little confusing sometimes when People ask for my address. And, then I give it, and I say North, and they say North what?
Maurine: I'm like, okay, North Virginia. And then they'll say, Northern Virginia.
And I'm like, no.
I've learned to now say in the town of North in Virginia, and that explains it.
Maurine: But it's in Matthews County and we're a rural county right on the water, and a very wonderful place to live.
Host: Now is it anything like around where I live up here where it's kind of May-berry styled?
Maurine: Yes, probably very much so.
We do not have a stoplight in the entire county, and we don't want one.
Stoplight means, you know, progress in big cities and traffic and people.
So yeah, we're not going in that direction.
Maurine: I mean, they're a fun story, both of them.
I illustrated them myself.
So I tried to make the illustrations colorful and intriguing to attract the children, but kind of underneath all that, there are some very important messages and very important purposes under both books.
Maurine: So it thrills me when they become important to the kids, because I think that's gonna make a huge difference for them and maybe for all of us ultimately.
